Cosmetic dentistry in California doesn’t always mean huge, expensive procedures with lengthy recoveries. One of the best cosmetic services we provide here at California Dental Care & Orthodontics is also one of our easiest and most affordable services! With Zoom! whitening, you can noticeably improve the color of your teeth – and the quality of your smile – in a single session that only takes around an hour.
You could do it on a lunch break, and your coworkers would never realize why your smile suddenly seems more dazzling.
Bringing You the Best Cosmetic Dentistry in California: Zoom!
So, how does the Zoom! teeth whitening procedure work?
Zoom! is a simple procedure that’s done in-office and doesn’t require any special anesthetics. After applying guards around your lips to keep your teeth exposed, your dentist applies the Zoom! hydrogen peroxide gel to the outer surfaces of your teeth. This gel reacts to ultraviolent light, which is shone onto your teeth in (typically) three bursts of 15 minutes each.
The UV light causes the hydrogen peroxide to rapidly break down, forcing oxygen molecules into the outer enamel of your teeth, which causes a bleaching effect. Stains and discoloration are blasted away, leaving clean white enamel behind. That’s really all there is to it. In under an hour, your teeth can become up to eight shades lighter.
After the procedure, some fluoride gel is applied to your teeth to reduce their sensitivity, and you’re given an at-home touch-up kit to maintain the whitening in the days to come.
How Long Does Zoom! Whitening Last?
That’s really up to you. Zoom! cleans your teeth, but nothing can stop them from becoming stained again. To maximize the benefits of a Zoom! whitening session, a patient should avoid or reduce use of food/drink which can cause staining, including:
- Brown or black tea
- Red wine
- Brown sodas
- Tomato sauce
- Dark berries, such as blueberries and blackberries
Plus, in particular, avoid oral tobacco products of any kind. There are few things a person can do which is worse for their teeth coloration than tobacco.
