The Graphite Materials Preparation Operator is responsible for preparing graphite components to meet quality, dimensional, and cleanliness standards prior to downstream processing (e.g., machining, purification, or coating). The role includes handling raw graphite, executing preparation procedures, and performing visual and dimensional inspections to ensure materials meet production requirements. Key Responsibilities include Material Preparation such as loading/unloading raw graphite blanks into fixtures or processing stations, performing surface preparation (e.g., sanding, grinding, dedusting) according to standard operating procedures, cutting, trimming, or pre-shaping graphite components if required; Inspection & Documentation including performing visual inspection for cracks, chips, or surface irregularities, measuring parts using basic hand tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers), recording preparation steps and inspection data into log sheets or electronic tracking systems; Equipment Operation such as operating material handling tools, jigs, carts, and safety fixtures, maintaining cleanliness and readiness of preparation equipment, reporting equipment malfunctions or material abnormalities to supervisor; Safety & Quality by adhering to EHS policies and wearing required PPE, maintaining compliance with cleanliness, contamination control, and quality standards, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and suggesting process optimizations. The position is physically demanding requiring standing for extended periods, walking, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, ability to distinguish colors, working in noisy environments, use of hand and power tools, and operating heavy machinery including forklifts. Qualifications include High School Diploma or equivalent, technical/vocational certificate and training in machining, 1+ years of experience in manufacturing or materials handling (graphite or ceramics preferred), familiarity with SOP's, safety procedures, basic shop math, ability to read and follow technical instructions and work orders, basic computer skills for data entry and documentation, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team environment.
