Job Description
This position will be within the Innovative Machine and Manufacturing group (IMM). The nature of the work can consist of R&D, job shop, repair, or production styles of machining with both CNC and manual methods being used. Seeking a reliable individual with a good mechanical aptitude who is willing to learn, work safely, follow instructions, but is also self-motivated to work independently when required. Must be flexible to work on multiple jobs or single long projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Able to teach MasterCam and adapt to various learning styles.
- Able to create training materials, plans, and curriculum for training sessions related to MasterCam, G-code, and CNC programming.
- Machine parts within specifications from drawings, CAD, or verbal instruction using CNC Machines, required tooling, and work holding.
- Able to operate CNC machines both Mill & Lathe.
- Program CNC machines utilizing MasterCam tool pathing, optimizing current programs and making program changes via machine’s user interface.
- Taking a project from a print or idea and turning it into a finished good from start to finish.
- Develop methods for manufacturing (tool pathing) requested products in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Aid in improving the overall CNC program lead times by increasing run rates, decreasing scrap, and implementing improved techniques to reduce waste.
- Assist in researching and developing process improvements and future methods of CNC machining.
- Collaborating with other machinists, engineers, or CNC programmers often
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot procedures for training CNC program project-based training.
- Create part and assembly designs / prints from scratch or modify designs using MasterCam software.
- Strategize setting up of CNC machines using multiple work holding styles like clamps, vices, or custom fixtures.
- Setup of program, tooling, and work holding for self-run project or for an operator
- Accurately log time, materials and tooling used on jobs either by provided time log sheet or tablet.
- Willing to schedule and coordinate time slots for training sessions with team members or groups as needed.
- Punctuality and regular attendance at scheduled times and planned training sessions
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reverse engineer products that are currently being sold while developing methods to manufacture.
- Deburring, quality control and checking of parts. Logging results
- Driving of company vehicle
- All other duties assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Primarily working and sitting at a compute
- Physical demands of the job can include but are not limited to bending, sitting, lifting 1 to 60 lbs.
- Driving of forklift or company vehicles.
- Physically capable of being on your feet for the majority of shift hours.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Specific experience and training in MasterCam software with documentation.
- Experience: 7+ years in related field.
- Experience working with Haas Mill and Lathe CNC machines and controllers.
- Experience working with CNC lathes with live tooling and multi axis.
- Able to use diverse types of measuring and inspection equipment. (Micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of: Milling, Turning, CNC control, tooling, feeds and speeds, tolerances, materials, dimensioning, cutting, grinding, drilling, tapping, and broaching.
- Ability read and create schematics, drawings, and technical references.
- Experience 5+ years collaborating with MasterCam CAD/CAM software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel
PREFERRED:
- Experience 5+ years teaching or training others with MasterCam CAD/CAM software.
- Machinist, Tool & Die or Toolmaker Journeyman’s card. (NTMA, community college schooling or other)
- Programing / Design Certification for MasterCam software.
- Knowledge of G&M Codes for quick program edits and troubleshooting at CNC controller.
- Experience with 4 Axis + CNC Mills operations and programming
- Knowledge of bar feeding and “lights out” style machining preferred.
