Kansas City, MO

6-Month Contract to Hire

Per Diem: $135/day (7 days/week) – Must live 70+ miles away to qualify

Includes paid travel home every 4 weeks + mob/demob reimbursement

Job Summary:

We're looking for a Mechanical Superintendent to lead field operations on mechanical scopes for a major construction project in Kansas City. This role is key to ensuring work is done safely, on schedule, and to spec. You'll oversee subcontractors, manage day-to-day progress, and coordinate with project stakeholders from kickoff to closeout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all mechanical field activities including piping (carbon, stainless, alloy), structural steel, welding, rotating and stationary equipment, rigging, hydro testing, insulation, coatings, and fire protection.
  • Maintain jobsite safety, productivity, and quality; enforce compliance with all company and regulatory standards.
  • Manage mechanical subcontractor performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Coordinate daily with field staff, project management, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Review safety documentation (PTAs, TSOs) and lead by example on safety expectations.
  • Monitor schedules and productivity with tools like the 3-week look-ahead.
  • Complete daily reports and progress photos.
  • Ensure the most current drawings and specs are being used in the field.
  • Assist with RFI responses, field change orders, and as-built documentation.
  • Witness system testing and equipment alignment, walk down systems pre- and post-testing, and sign off on completed work.
  • Manage punch lists, material deliveries, tool tracking, and craft supervision as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED + 11 years in mechanical construction supervision
  • OR Associate Degree + 9 years
  • OR Bachelor's Degree + 7 years
  • Strong leadership, communication, and safety track record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must meet company driving requirements.
