The Operating Room Assistant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness in the operating rooms (OR). This position also provides assistance with transport of patients and transport of items throughout the hospital. In this role you will maintain, prepare and move equipment and supplies within the OR. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers. Essential functions and duties include maintaining a clean environment in the Operating Rooms, ensuring all beds, tables, positioners and supplies are available and maintained, providing support to O.R. staff to consist of cleaning O.R.’s, offices, bathrooms, common areas, pre-op and PACU, completing unit specific and annual CBL’s and competencies on time, supporting the vision, mission and values of the organization, supporting Value Improvement Practice (VIP-Lean) principles of continuous improvement, providing and maintaining a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests, conducting all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality, complying with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, delivering customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, and performing additional duties of similar complexity within the organization as required or assigned. Education required is a high school diploma or GED. Licensure/certification required is the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS/CPR) certification by date of hire and Surgical Cleaning Technician Certification within 1 year of hire. Some institutional housekeeping experience is preferred. Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely. Physical requirements include standing and walking 75% or more of the time, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-25 pounds frequently, and occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladder/step-stool, reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, and ability to hear whispered speech level. The job is scheduled for 40 hours weekly with variable shifts in the United States of America.
