Your New Role The Lead with Jake Tapper seeks a creative, dynamic, and experienced producer to collaborate with the editorial team, generate story ideas, report information, and produce content for CNN’s premiere late-afternoon news and political analysis program. Your Role Accountabilities Perform various editorial tasks based on daily needs, including scripting and producing tape packages with correspondents, pitching, shooting, editing segments, and planning live segments with pre-interviews and scripted questions. Exhibit strong editorial judgment to craft compelling questions and select visual elements, shaping segments that make news headlines. Pitch innovative segment ideas and fresh angles on ongoing stories. Maintain a nimble approach to breaking news, with knowledge of international relations, domestic politics, and current events. Be prepared to travel for field reporting as needed. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 6+ years of experience in national or major media markets, preferably in network or cable news production. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience. Extensive knowledge of television news production, including non-linear editing, scripting, and understanding of effective VO segments. Control room experience is preferred. A strong interest in politics and federal government news is essential. Ability to stay calm under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment. Critical thinking, creativity, organizational skills, and independence are key qualities. Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
