Kittery Trading Post/ Retail Loss Prevention Manager/ Kittery, Maine

We are working with our client, Kittery Trading Post , a well-established family-owned retail business for over 80 years, with an opportunity for a Retail Loss Prevention Manager to join their team working in Kittery, Maine .

The Retail Loss Prevention Manager is responsible to protect company assets and improve store profitability by developing and implementing security and safety programs for employees and customers. The main areas of focus include preventing shoplifting, vandalism, and ensuring store safety while minimizing risk and maintaining a high customer friendly and employee experience. The Loss Prevention Manager will oversee the retail store and warehouse in Kittery as well as the distribution center and gun exchange locations in NH.

Requirements for the Loss Prevention Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or equivalent
  • 5+ years prior experience in Retail loss prevention, asset protection, or risk management is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with security equipment such as intrusion detection devices, and CCTVs
  • Team player able to work with different personality types, assertive but professional
  • Ability to work with high level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Must have attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Spreadsheet and word processing proficiency required
  • Ability to respond to alarm calls as business needs dictates

Responsibilities of the Loss Prevention Manager:

  • Investigate, log, and resolve alleged and actual theft, violations of policy, and compliance concerns.
  • Coordinate and communicate with management and governmental agencies
  • Audit sites to ensure inventory is processed, handled, and monitored appropriately, and document any errors or failures
  • Develop policies and train staff in loss prevention and reduce shrinkage
  • Minimize the financial losses of a retail operation related to internal/external theft
  • Develop processes to detect safety issues and security violations and implement proactive solutions to prevent repeat occurrences
  • Effectively conduct investigations with management, police, and employees
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to team members as needed
