Job Description

Senior Auditor – Join Our Audit Team’s Rocket Ship
Beebout, Williams & Olds (BW&O CPAs) | El Dorado Hills, CA
$75,000 – $105,000 (Based on Experience)
Full-Time, In-Person Position

Skip the Corporate Buzzwords – Here’s What’s Actually Happening

While other firms talk about “growth opportunities,” we’re literally at the point where we could double or quadruple in size within a year if we wanted to. But we’re not just growing for growth’s sake—we’re strategically scaling because we’ve built something special, and we need the right person to rocket up with us.

What Makes This Different

You’ll Lead an International Dream Team
Manage at minimum two experienced professionals from our international team (7–15 years’ experience, Chartered Accountants who are rockstars). This isn’t your typical “supervision” role—it’s collaborative leadership across continents with daily overlap and two weekly full-team strategy sessions.

We’re Not Just Tech-Forward, We’re Tech-Obsessed
While other firms are still figuring out basic automation, we’re deep in enterprise-level AI, testing every tool that can responsibly transform how audits get done.

Mission-Driven Work That Matters
Primarily serving exempt nonprofits and low-income housing projects—you get to be a professional service provider and support organizations making real impact.

A Team That Actually Hangs Out
Our local team genuinely likes each other. Weekend camping trips, hiking, barbecues, planned walks on the nature-preserve trail next to our new office. When we say “culture fit,” we mean you’ll actually want to grab lunch with these people.

Your New Office Life

  • Location: 5172 El Dorado Hills Circle, El Dorado Hills (brand-new office!)
  • Vibe: Surrounded by nature-preserve trails; 1 mile to Town Center, Relish Burger Bar, and more
  • Social Schedule: Tuesday/Thursday evening team runs/rucks/walks; pre-planned community events
  • Work Style: 80% remote client work, 20% on-site audits, daily international team collaboration

What You’ll Actually Do

  • Lead full audit engagements (nonprofit, low-income housing, some for-profit) from planning through completion—risk assessment, PBC request-list management, fieldwork oversight, assigned sections review, assistance with draft financial-statement preparation, and file completion work.
  • Supervise and mentor a small team of Chartered Accountants—assign tasks, review workpapers, provide performance feedback, and uphold firm quality standards.
  • Plan and design audit approach and workpapers, research complex accounting or compliance issues, and assist with continuous improvement and implementation of cutting-edge tools to drive our audit efficiency, improve client experience, and help us create value.
  • Manage multiple concurrent engagements (typically 2–3 at a time), tracking budgets, continuous grooming of workflow progress, and escalating any timeline or scope issues.
  • Act as primary liaison between clients, the local office, and our International team—lead status calls, clarify technical requests into simple client-friendly language, and keep deliverables flowing.
  • Travel to client sites when required, with most audit work performed remotely in our post-COVID hybrid model. Don’t be fooled, remote work is hard and has its own obstacles to overcome!
  • Self-organize and prioritize across all phases of engagements, owning your workload and deadlines to keep every audit on track.

Growth Path: Senior → Manager → Senior Manager → Director → Principal with revenue sharing. We're transparent about money – make strong contributions to client deliverables and there's more revenue to go around.

Must-Haves

  • 3–8 years public accounting experience (strong nonprofit audit background considered), including at least one full engagement led end-to-end.
  • Proven track record running complete audits: planning, PBC request-list management, fieldwork oversight, audit section review, and draft financial-statement preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor Chartered Accountants—assign tasks, review workpapers, provide feedback, and uphold firm quality standards.
  • CPA license (or actively pursuing) required for advancement.
  • Strong verbal and written communicator—adept at bridging language nuances with our international team and translating technical requests into simple, client-friendly language.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills—able to independently manage multiple engagements and deadlines without micromanagement.

Personality Fit

  • Self-organized and self-managed (seriously, no hand-holding)
  • Down-to-earth team player who wants genuine workplace friendships
  • Someone feeling stagnant elsewhere who’s ready to jump on a rocket ship
  • Excited about being part of something innovative and entrepreneurial

The Reality Check

This role is IN-PERSON. Our team works better with in person collective intelligence, and especially during onboarding, you need to be physically present. Remote work happens occasionally with approval, but this isn't a remote-first position.

You need to want to grow. If you're looking to coast, this isn't it. We're building something big and need people who want to build it with us.

Benefits Package

  • Competitive salary ($70K–$90K based on experience)
  • Overtime compensation for non-exempt positions; discretionary performance bonuses for exempt positions
  • $550/month medical insurance premium contribution
  • Vision and dental coverage
  • Retirement plan for eligible employees (Simple IRA)

Legal & Compliance

  • Employment Classification: This role may be classified as either exempt or non-exempt depending on the candidate’s qualifications and CPA licensure. Non-exempt staff are eligible for overtime; exempt staff meet California’s salary thresholds and are not eligible for overtime.
  • At-Will & Contingencies: Beebout, Williams & Olds is an at-will employer. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory background and reference checks .
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Reasonable Accommodations: We provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities upon request, in compliance with the ADA and California Fair Employment and Housing Act.
  • Meal & Rest Breaks: We comply with all California requirements for meal and rest periods.
  • Paid Sick Leave: Eligible employees accrue paid sick leave under the California Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act.
  • Benefits Compliance: Our group health plans meet all California minimum preventive-care requirements under the ACA.

Ready to Launch?

If you’re tired of being just another auditor at just another firm—and you want to be part of a team that’s genuinely innovative, close-knit, and positioned for explosive growth—let’s talk.
Apply with your resume and a note about why you’re ready to leave wherever you are and join our mission.

Beebout, Williams & Olds is an equal opportunity employer committed to building diverse teams that reflect the communities we serve. We provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities upon request.
