Job Description

The Pittsburgh Golf Club, established in 1896, located in Squirrel Hill, boasts a rich history and tradition that is apparent as soon as you walk through the door. Andrew Mellon, Henry Clay Frick and Philander C. Knox were among the Club’s early members. Restored, remodeled and redecorated many times in the past century, the PGC is a family club where members enjoy racquet sports, summer swimming, private parties and fine dining in a setting of simple elegance. The Club is a “home away from home” for the families of its members and guests.

Swimming Pool Manager

We are searching for a seasonal swimming pool manager. The pool is open from early May (5/16/2025) until mid-September (9/15/2025 or later) 7:00 am to 9:00 pm daily. We pay a competitive hourly rate depending on experience. This position requires applicants to have swimming and red cross certification experience.

Requirements:

  • Must be Red Cross Certified
  • Must have Swim / lifeguard experience
  • Swimming pool management experience is a plus
  • CPO (Club will sponsor)

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the smooth and efficient running of all aspects of The Pittsburgh Golf Club Pool
  • Reports to and communicates directly with the General Manager of the Club
  • Conduct training, performance reviews, recognition and individual development of lifeguard staff
  • Manage lifeguard staff, utilizing Personal Improvement Plans, coaching and disciplinary tools to improve or terminate unsatisfactory performance with the consultation of General Manager and Human Resources Manager where applicable
  • Manage staff schedule of pool staff including time-off requests
  • Conduct training classes when needed
  • Communicate with club members and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Be highly visible at peak times
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager
  • Manage member usage of the pool facility
  • Manage pool chemical and filtration system
  • Take and record hourly records for the pool chemicals
  • Manage the cleaning of the bath house
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the deck and surrounding areas of the pool
  • Manage the registration of club members and guests
  • Manage the towel services for the pool area

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

  • Weekends are a must

Experience:

  • Lifeguard: 5 years (Required)

License/Certification:
