CNN’s Vice President of Business & Media is pivotal in defining and executing CNN’s strategy to deliver distinctive, deeply reported journalism that informs, surprises and builds CNN into an authoritative source for business and media coverage. The Vice President of Business & Media will have ownership and responsibility for leading editorial direction and source-driven reporting; driving audience engagement and subscription growth across platforms, including O&O and streaming. Responsibilities include setting and executing an ambitious editorial agenda for CNN Business & Media, evaluating team structure and skillsets to pivot coverage towards distinctive content, overseeing day-to-day news operations and breaking news across business, markets, tech, media and economy coverage, managing breaking news with excellent judgment, ensuring original high-impact journalism, fostering a newsroom culture prioritizing relationship-building and exclusive source reporting, developing strategies and training to deepen beat expertise, working with editorial leaders and audience teams to re-conceptualize coverage, partnering with Product, Audience Development, and Marketing to develop multi-platform subscription strategy, using audience insights to inform content strategy, building brand reach through newsletters, mobile platforms, podcasts, and other formats, ensuring reporting is fair and complete, managing and mentoring the team, providing performance feedback, and overseeing budget responsibility. Qualifications include 15+ years in digital media, journalism, or content leadership, 5+ years senior leadership managing multi-layered editorial teams, a college degree in Journalism or related field (master's preferred), experience driving strategic transformation in subscription environments, excellent editorial acumen, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage matrixed stakeholder relationships, executive leadership and decision making, and comfort working in a fast-paced 24/7 environment.
